SYMPTOMS
If you turn on automatic journaling for Microsoft Office programs in the Outlook Journal, Outlook may not record any Journal entries.
CAUSE
If you use Office 97 programs with Outlook 2000, the Journal does not record the use of Office 97 programs because Office 97 and Office 2000 write their log files to different places.
RESOLUTION
For consistent automatic recording of Journal items, use Office 97 programs with Outlook 98, or use Office 2000 programs with Outlook 2000.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Outlook 2000.
