SYMPTOMS
An audio CD that is playing through your Universal Serial Bus (USB) speakers may stop when you open a command prompt window. The music may also randomly stop playing, the speaker icon on the task bar may disappear, or the progress counter in the CD Player tool may never change from 00:00.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
