SYMPTOMS
When you try to start FrontPage, the following error message may appear:
When you click OK, FrontPage does not start.
CAUSE
The above error may occur if you did all of the following:
- You created a transform (.mst) with the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW).
- In the CIW, you set the FrontPage feature in the Set Feature Installation States dialog box to Not Available.
- You installed Office using this transform.
- You then added FrontPage to your Office installation through Maintenance Mode Setup.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To temporarily work around this problem, please do the following:
- In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Double-click the Office 2000 item in the list of installed programs.
- Click Add or Remove Features in the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box.
- Click the list for FrontPage and change the installation state to Run all from My Computer.
- Click Update Now.
- Start FrontPage.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
