SYMPTOMS
When you try to create a sub-folder on an HPFS volume from a 16-bit program (such as File Manager) after you apply the Microsoft client redirector (Vrdrupd.exe, from Q183493, which installs version 4.0.0.1118 of the Vredir.vxd file), you may receive the following error message:
Fatal Exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C027F417 in VxD IFSMGR(04) + 00006AEF.

RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem described in this article and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.

If the modification from Q183493 has not been implemented on a Windows 95-based computer, you may receive an "access denied" error message when you try to create a sub-folder on an HPFS volume from a 16-bit program. You can avoid the "Access denied" error message by applying the hotfix mentioned above.
