SYMPTOMS

When you review Mailbox resources in the Microsoft Exchange Server Administrator program, the Item Count and Mailbox size may appear inconsistent with the actual number or size of items in the mailbox.

CAUSE

When you open a mailbox item, modify it, and then save the changes, the number of items in the mailbox is incremented and the size is increased according to the item size unnecessarily.

RESOLUTION
