This article was previously published under Q234690

SYMPTOMS

When using Outlook you are unable to record macros as you can with other Microsoft Office programs.

CAUSE

The Outlook object model does not support many of the functions that you can perform using the Outlook user interface. Therefore there is no way to translate most menu commands and user actions into programming code.

RESOLUTION

You can create custom solutions using Outlook, however you do not have the advantage of using a macro recorder to generate code. All Outlook programming code must be custom written.
