SYMPTOMS

When you run the Setup program for Office or any stand-alone Office program, you may receive the following error message:

Insert Disk

The file 'Crswpp.dll' on Web Publishing Wizard disk cannot be found.

Insert Web Publishing Wizard disk in the selected drive, and click OK.

You may also receive the same error message again, but with any of the following file names:

   Flupl.hlp Piparse.dll Wpwiz.exe
   Flupl.ocx Postwpp.dll Wpwiz.hlp
   Fpwpp.dll Webpost.dll Wpwizdll.dll
   Ftpwpp.dll Wpwiz.cnt

CAUSE

This will only occur if all of the following conditions are true:

  • You have a U.S. Robotics 56K Voice Win modem, or 3Com USRobotics V.90 PCI Telephony WinModem installed in your computer.
  • You install any Office program (for example, Microsoft Office 2000 Disc 1, or the stand-alone version of Microsoft Excel).
  • After restarting the computer once, you install any other Office program (for example, Microsoft Office 2000 Disc 2, or the stand-alone version of Microsoft Word).

NOTE: This does not occur if you install only a single Office CD or stand-alone Office program, or if you do not have either of the specific modems listed installed in your computer.

RESOLUTION

There are three methods that you can use to address this issue:

  • Before installing a second Office program, restart your computer a second time, once when prompted by the Setup program, and then again when Setup is complete. When you install the next Office program you will not receive the error message.
  • When you receive the error message, click Cancel. Setup will then complete successfully.
  • When you receive the error message, follow these steps:
    1. Click Browse.
    2. Browse to the IE5\EN folder on the Office CD-ROM, or the network server from which you are installing Office.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Click OK to continue installing.
NOTE: If you receive the error message again, repeat these steps.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that the issue described above occurs only when all three conditions listed above are true.

MORE INFORMATION

The modems listed above use the following files on your computer's hard disk:

   Winmodem.vxd Turbovcd.vxd
   Wmldr.vxd Turbovbf.vxd
   Wmexe.exe Wmdll.dll

NOTE: The issue described in this article does not impair the functionality of any of your Office programs and they will all function properly regardless of the method you use to address this issue.
