SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Links Extreme, the installation process may not complete successfully, and you may receive the following error message:

Error -113

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive is unable to read the Links Extreme CD-ROM correctly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented.

Inspect and Clean the CD-ROM

To clean the Links Extreme CD-ROM, gently wipe the silver side of the DVD-ROM with a soft, lint-free cotton cloth. Do not use paper cloth which can scratch the plastic and leave streaks.

NOTE: When you clean the CD-ROM, wipe from the center of the disc to the edge. Do not use a circular motion.

If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the next method.

Copy the Contents of the CD-ROM to Your Hard Disk

Copy the contents of the Links Extreme CD-ROM to a new folder on a hard disk that contains at least 670 megabytes (MB) of available disk space, and then install Links Extreme from the hard disk. To do this:

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK

    cd-rom:\

    where cd-rom is the drive letter of the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
  4. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  5. Click Start, and then click Run.
  6. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK

    drive:\

    where drive is the drive letter of a hard disk on your computer that contains at least 670 MB of available disk space.
  7. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Folder.
  8. Type Links Extreme CD, and then press ENTER.
  9. Double-click the Links Extreme CD folder.
  10. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  11. When you are finished copying the files, double-click the Setup.exe file to install Links Extreme.
  12. Follow the instructions on the screen to install Links Extreme.
