SYMPTOMS

Attempting to upgrade an OLAP Server computer that has Microsoft Office 2000 from the released version of Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services to some beta builds fails with the following error:

Cannot continue setup. File c:\Program Files\OLAP Services\Data\FoodMart\Sales\Sales.prt is probably in use by another program. Close all the programs and run setup again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server OLAP Services version 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 1 for Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services version 7.0.
