SYMPTOMS
When Exchange Server issues Japanese Industry Standard (JIS) shift character set commands, the correct naming context is not set properly, thereby displaying the wrong characters.
CAUSE
When a shift character set command is issued but is currently in the wrong context, Exchange Server does not switch to the correct naming context for the character shift.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3.
