To troubleshoot video problems in Links LS 98, use the following methods.

Reduce Your Display Resolution and Color Settings

To reduce your display resolution and color settings to the minimum settings required by Links LS 98:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. In the Color Palette or Colors box, click High Color (16-Bit).
  5. Move the Desktop Area slider to the 800 x 600 setting.
  6. Click OK, and then restart your computer.

If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the appropriate method for your version of Microsoft Windows.

If you are using Microsoft Windows 95/98, proceed to the next method.

If you are using Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, proceed to the "Install Service Pack 5 or Later for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0" method later in this article.

Reduce Graphics Hardware Acceleration

NOTE: This method does not apply to Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computers, because the Hardware Acceleration slider is not available in Windows NT 4.0.

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click System.
  3. On the Performance tab, click Graphics.
  4. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None (the Basic acceleration setting).
  5. Click OK, and then click Close.
  6. When you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.

If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the "Install the Latest Versions of Your Video and Sound Drivers" method later in this article.

Install Service Pack 5 or Later for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0

If you are using Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, download and install Service Pack 5 or later for Windows NT 4.0 from the following Microsoft Web site:

If the issue continues to occur, proceed to the next method.

Install the Latest Versions of Your Video and Sound Drivers

Contact your hardware manufacturer to inquire about how to obtain and install the latest version of the video driver for your video adapter and the sound driver for your sound card.
