SYMPTOMS
When you try to start Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This error message can occur if your computer is configured to boot multiple operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98 and Windows 2000, and you install Windows 2000 on the same drive as Windows 95 or Windows 98. When you install Windows 2000 on the same drive as Windows 95 or Windows 98, Windows 2000 Setup replaces Windows 95 or Windows 98 files in the Program Files/Internet Explorer folder with Windows 2000-specific files. The error message occurs when you restart the computer using Windows 95 or Windows 98 and then attempt to start Internet Explorer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install Windows 2000 on a separate drive.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
