Only One Voice Setting Is Available in Windows 2000 Narrator

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to change the voice setting for Windows 2000 Narrator, you are unable to do so because only one voice setting is listed.


CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Windows 2000 includes one voice setting for Narrator.


WORKAROUND

To work around this issue:

  1. Download the Learnout and Hauspie TruVoice Text-To-Speech engine from the following Microsoft Web site:
  2. Click Download Microsoft Agent.
  3. On the left side of the page, click Downloads.
  4. In the Text-to-speech engines section, click Learnout and Hauspie TruVoice Text-To-Speech Engine - English, and then click Download selected engine.


STATUS

This behavior is by design.
