Your Computer Restarts Before ICS Wizard Is Set Up Completely

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Internet Connection Wizard, you may be prompted to restart the computer before the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Wizard is set up completely.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you do not configure your Internet connection before you run the ICS Wizard.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, reinstall, and then run the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect from the Internet.
  2. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. On the Windows Setup tab, double-click Internet Tools.
  4. Click to clear the Internet Connection Sharing box, and then click OK.
  5. Click OK, and then restart the computer when you are prompted.
  6. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  7. On the Windows Setup tab, double-click Internet Tools.
  8. Click to select the Internet Connection Sharing box, and then click OK.
  9. Click OK, and then follow the instructions on your screen to run the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard.
