SYMPTOMS

If you insert an autoshape from the Clip Gallery More Autoshapes selection, the autoshape may not be inserted into your Microsoft Office application, or the autoshape may be inserted into another application that is minimized or in the background.

CAUSE

If you click More Autoshapes on the Autoshapes menu of the Drawing toolbar, Clip Gallery will open in a small window. If you change to another Office applciation, the Clip Gallery window will remain visible in the foreground. However, if you select an autoshape and then click Insert, the autoshape will be inserted into the original application that was used to open the More Autoshapes window, and not the application currently displayed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use one of the methods listed.

Method One

If you use the drag and drop technique to move the autoshape to the active Office application, the autoshape will insert successfully.

Method Two

Close Clip Gallery, and reopen it in the foreground application.

  1. Close the More Autoshapes window.
  2. Make sure that the Drawing toolbar is visible. On the View menu, point to Toolbars and make sure that Drawing is selected.
  3. From the Autoshapes menu on the Drawing toolbar, click More Autoshapes.

STATUS

This design feature is under consideration for revision in a future version of the application.
