SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to send a message to a distribution list that was imported from a Microsoft Mail Personal Address Book, you may receive an Undeliverable message from the System Administrator.

CAUSE

The imported distribution list was assigned an e-mail type of EX rather than MS.

RESOLUTION

Remove the problem distribution list from your Contacts folder and rebuild it by selecting it from the postoffice address book.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To Rebuild the Distribution List

To rebuild the distribution list, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the problem distribution list in your Contacts folder, and click Delete on the shortcut menu.
  2. On the Actions menu, click New Distribution List.
  3. Type a name for the distribution list and click Select members.
  4. In the Show Name from the list, click to select Postoffice Address List.
  5. Click to select the problem distribution list, click Add, and click OK.
  6. In the Distribution List dialog box, click Save and Close.
