SYMPTOMS
When you install Small Business Server 4.5, you receive an informational dialog box containing the following message:
This dialog box may also be followed by another dialog box later in the installation process that contains the following message:
RESOLUTION
These dialog boxes appear when the setup is unable to detect a network interface card (NIC) in the computer. However, it is possible to ignore this message and continue through the setup completion, which installs the MS Loopback Adapter. After setup completes, the NIC can be installed by running the Hardware Setup Wizard (click Control Panel, double-click Network, and then click the Adapter tab).
If the network card is present and on the Small Business Server Hardware Compatibility List, contact the hardware vendor to troubleshoot the network card hardware failure. Small Business Server will not function properly until a detectable network card is installed.
