SYMPTOMS
If you customize Outlook Today to include your Notes folder, the number of notes does not display in Outlook Today.
CAUSE
Only the number of unread items displays in Outlook Today. Since all notes are automatically marked as read when created, Outlook Today displays a zero for the number of notes.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, open your Notes folder, select all items, and mark them as unread. To set all of your notes as unread, follow these steps:
- Open your Notes folder.
- On the Edit menu, click Select All.
- On the Edit menu, click Mark as Unread.

To customize Outlook Today so that your Notes folder is listed in the Messages area, folow these steps:
- Click Customize Outlook Today, and then under the Messages area, click Choose Folders.
- Click to select the Notes folder, click OK, and then click Save Changes.
