SYMPTOMS
After you install Microsoft Office 2000 and attempt to start America Online, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when the following conditions are true:
- You installed America Online Preview Version. This preview version is included with Microsoft Windows 98.
-and-
- The version of the Msvcrt.dll file that AOL installs is overwritten during the installation of Microsoft Office 2000.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, do one of the following:
- Obtain and install an updated version of America Online.
-or-
- Use the Microsoft System File Checker tool to restore the original Windows 98 version of the Msvcrt.dll file.
