SYMPTOMS

After upgrading from Microsoft Outlook 97 or Outlook 98, when you view your accounts on the Accounts command under the Tools menu, your old Internet mail accounts are not listed.

CAUSE

During Setup you chose to not upgrade Outlook 97 or 98.

RESOLUTION

Either add the accounts manually or use the Import Wizard to import and verify the account information.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

Under normal circumstances earlier versions of Outlook will be detected and upgraded, with the accounts being rolled over to the new version of Outlook . If you choose to keep the installed versions of Outlook 97 or 98, instead of updating the old program, your mail accounts will not be migrated to Outlook 2000. There are two ways to correct the situation after this has taken place. You can recreate the mail accounts, or import the old account information.

Recreate the Mail Accounts
