SYMPTOMS
When you use the Send To command to send a document from Microsoft Word 2000 to a fax recipient, the document may remain in the Microsoft Exchange Outbox and is not sent as expected.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when the following conditions are true:
- You are using Microsoft Word 2000, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft Fax.
-and-
- You attempt to send the document by using the Send To command on the File menu in Word.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use any of the following methods.
Method 1: Send a Second Fax
Send another document using the Send To command on the File menu in Word. When another document is sent, the previous document is flushed from the Exchange Outbox and sent.
Method 2: Use Microsoft Fax
Send the document using the Microsoft Fax program rather than the Send To command in Word.
Method 3: Use the Print Command
In Word, click Print on the File menu, and then select Microsoft Fax as the printer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
