Summary: The networked version of ISAM (NISAM.EXE) is only guaranteed in an IBM PC NET environment. IBM PC NET multitasks and allows two tasks to run at a time, keeping ISAM resident and servicing the COBOL request. MS-DOS (as well as other network systems on the market) does not have this ability.
