SYMPTOMS
When you try to access the modem pool on a BackOffice Small Business Server-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
Also, fax and proxy services in Small Business Server (SBS) may not work.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if a member server on the SBS domain is running the Routing and Remote Access service (RRAS). RRAS may capture all the ports in the modem pool, leaving no ports available to the clients.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, configure RRAS not to include the Modem Sharing ports. Or, you can uninstall the Modem Sharing client from the server running RRAS.
