Article Last Modified on 6/17/2005

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Word 2000 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q209561

SYMPTOMS

When you call the Application.WindowState command from a UserForm, the Word window may fail to resize to the specified window state.

CAUSE

The ShowModal property of the UserForm is set to True.

By design, Word cannot be manipulated when a modal form is displayed.
For example, you cannot minimize Word when the Font dialog box is showing.

WORKAROUND

This includes, but is not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. This article assumes that you are familiar with the programming language that is being demonstrated and with the tools that are used to create and to debug procedures. Microsoft support engineers can help explain the functionality of a particular procedure, but they will not modify these examples to provide added functionality or construct procedures to meet your specific requirements.
To work around this problem, set the ShowModal property of the UserForm to False.
