SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to open a Microsoft Word 2000 e-mail attachment, Word starts and then a blank MS-DOS window with a QNC task appears, and Word stops responding (hangs).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if Quincy (QNC.exe) is set as the default Lotus Notes debugger in Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows NT.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, remove Quincy as the default Lotus Notes debugger.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
