SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Windows 98, you may receive the following error message when you start Windows 98 normally:

Fatal Exception 0D 03E7:00003497

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the STB Vision 95 installation software is installed. The driver works correctly with Windows 98, but the installation software, which is linked to the driver, does not.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, uninstall the STB Vision software. Note that this also uninstalls the video driver. Then, reinstall the driver but do not install the STB software. For information about uninstalling and reinstalling the STB driver, please consult the video adapter's documentation or manufacturer. You may also want to contact STB to inquire about an updated version of the Vision software that resolves this issue.
