SYMPTOMS

When a message sent via Lotus Notes is opened in Microsoft Outlook Internet Mail Only, text written by the Notes sender may not appear. The message will appear in the Preview Pane and the AutoPreview. When replying or forwarding the message, any text written by the Notes sender will not be sent.

RESOLUTION

Switch to the Corporate or Workgroup installation of Outlook.

To convert to the Corporate or Workgroup installation of Outlook, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Delivery Tab, click Reconfigure Mail Support.
  3. On the E-mail Service Options page, click to select the mail support option you are switching to. Click Next.
  4. Read the warning message and then click Yes. Outlook will close.
  5. Start Outlook. The Windows Installer will start and install the required files.

You may need to create a mail profile. To create a new user profile, follow these steps:

  1. On the File menu, click "Exit and Log Off."
  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  3. In Control Panel, double-click the Mail (or Mail And Fax) icon.
  4. On the Services tab, click Show Profiles.
  5. Click Add to start the Inbox Setup Wizard.
  6. Click to select the desired information services, and then click Next.
  7. In the Profile Name box, type a unique name for the new profile.
  8. Continue with the Inbox Setup Wizard to set up each of the selected services.
  9. You will now see the new profile listed. Change the "When starting Microsoft Windows Messaging use this" setting to the new profile that you just created.
  10. Restart Outlook to use the new profile.

To set Outlook to prompt you for a profile at startup, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Services Tab, under Startup Settings, click to select "Prompt for a profile to be used," and click OK.
  3. On the File menu, click "Exit and Log Off."

The next time that you start Outlook, you will be prompted to select a user profile.
