SYMPTOMS

When you start Windows, you may receive one of the following error messages:

QBW caused a general protection fault in module Q_enut16.dll

-OR-


QBW caused a general protection fault in module Onlcfg16.dll

CAUSE

This behavior can be occur if you have Intuit's QuickBooks for Windows program installed on your computer and your computer's system date is invalid. For example, the year may be set to 2097 or 2098 instead of 1997 or 1998.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, set your computer clock to the correct date and time. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Date/Time.
  3. On the Date & Time tab, click the correct date and time, and then click OK.
