PRJ98: No Tasks Shown and Crash Opening Team Assignment Message

SYMPTOMS

When you open a TeamAssign message in your e-mail program, the following symptoms may occur:

No tasks are displayed in the TeamAssign message and only the Reply button is available.
When you reply to the TeamAssign message and click Send, you may receive one of the following error messages.

Windows 95/98

This Program has performed and illegal operation and will shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

OPENMAIL caused an invalid page fault in module OPENMAIL.EXE at <address>.

Windows NT

An application error has occurred and application log is being generated.

Openmail.exe
Exception access violation (0xc0000005) Address <address>

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you open a TeamAssign with more than 49 tasks assigned to one resource.

RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, install Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
