SYMPTOMS
When you install a security certificate from a certificate authority running Microsoft Certificate Server 1.0 on a Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) 2.0 POP3 or IMAP server, client connections using SSL may fail.
CAUSE
The buffer allocated for security requests is not large enough to handle the increased size of the certificates issued by Microsoft Certificate Server.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT version 4.0. For more information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 2.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.
