This article describes how to remove the Outlook Security Patch for Outlook 98 (Outptch2.exe).

NOTE: These instructions are for manually removing the Outptch2.exe patch described in the Knowledge Base article:

The following files are installed and/or updated by the Outlook Security Patch for Outlook 98:

wab32.dll
outllib.dll
pstprx32.dll (Note, this file only exists if running in Internet Only Mode)
msimnui.dll
contab32.dll
inetcomm.dll
minet32.dll
outlmime.dll


To remove the Outlook Security Patch, you will need to replace these files with the original version from the Outlook 98 CD. To get a copy of the original version of these files, do either of the following:

  1. Extract the files from the Outlook 98 CD, using the procedure in the following Knowledge Base article:

    132913 How to Use EXTRACT.EXE to Copy Files from DMF Disks

    -or-
  2. Get copies of the files from a computer that does not have the Outlook Security Patch installed on it.

NOTE: This patch is not related to the June, 2000 Outlook Email Security Update that is described in Q262617. (The June, 2000 patch is a more significant patch, and includes an option in Add/Remove programs that allows it to be uninstalled.)
