SYMPTOMS
When you try to download a component from the Windows Update page, you may receive one of the following error messages:
If you click Back and then click Download Again, you may receive the following error message:
If you then click Details, you may receive the following error message:
When you try to install Microsoft Outlook 98, you may receive the following error message:
Your computer may stop responding (hang) after you receive these error messages.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (VM) is damaged.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use the following steps:
- Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
- Double-click the Windows folder, and then double-click the Downloaded Program Files folder.
- Delete the following files by right-clicking them one at a time, and then clicking Remove.
NOTE: If you do not intend to reinstall the Microsoft Java VM, do not delete the Win32 Classes file.DirectAnimation Java Classes

WuRedirInfoB Class - Double-click the System folder.
- Delete the following files by right-clicking them one at a time, and then clicking Delete:

NOTE: The Wudetect.dll file is located in the Program Files\Internet Explorer folder. - Restart your computer.
- Download the latest version of the Java VM from the following Microsoft Web site:
