This article was previously published under Q192820

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to save or send an e-mail project using one of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, you may receive the following error message:

The file could not be saved or created.

CAUSE

You can receive this error message for any of the following reasons:

  • You do not have enough free space available on the hard disk to save the project.
  • You are running too many programs on the computer, and there is not enough memory available to create or save the file.
  • Your e-mail project includes a frame containing only 5-10 characters and these characters are formatted to use the Goudy Stout font.
  • The computer's system resources are too low to save or create the file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Verify that you have enough free hard-disk space available to save the project. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
    2. Right-click the drive on which you are attempting to save the file, and then click Properties. Note the amount of free space available on the drive.

If you do not have sufficient free space available to save your project, then free space on your hard disk. For information about how to free space on your hard disk, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

179798 How to Increase Free Space on Your Hard Disk

If you do have sufficient free space available on your hard disk to save the project, continue to the next step.
  2. Close all running programs except for Home Publishing 99 or Greetings 99. Test to see if you can save your project. If you still cannot save your project, continue to the next step.
  3. Verify that you do not have a frame in your e-mail project that contains between 5-10 characters formatted in the Goudy Stout font. If you do have a frame in your project that contains few characters formatted to use the Goudy Stout font, use either of the following methods to work around this issue:

    • Change the font of the characters in the frame to any font except Goudy Stout.
    • Type additional text in the frame so the total number of characters is greater than 10.
Test to see if you can save your project. If you still cannot save your project, continue to the next step.
  4. Quit Home Publishing 99 or Greetings 99, and then quit and restart Windows.

NOTE: When you quit Home Publishing 99 or Greetings 99 and then restart Windows, your e-mail project is not saved.

STATUS
