OL97: Invalid Date causes GP Fault

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Outlook 97, versions 8.02 or 8.03 on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 and enter an invalid date such as 4/31/98 (there is no April 31st), you will get the following error message:

The value is not valid

Click OK. A Dr Watson error will be generated and Outlook will quit.

RESOLUTION

Install the Microsoft SR-2 update.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97, versions 8.02 and 8.03. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).
