To print the Readme file, open it in Notepad or another word processor, and then click Print on the File menu. -------- CONTENTS -------- 1. INSTALLING AND RUNNING THE SOFTWARE 2. USING THIS SOFTWARE WITH MICROSOFT ACTIMATES ARTHUR OR D.W. =========================================== PART 1: INSTALLING AND RUNNING THE SOFTWARE =========================================== >> To set up Arthur's Math Carnival: 1. Insert the compact disc in the CD-ROM drive. The Setup program should start automatically. If the Setup program does not start automatically, start Windows Explorer, click the CD-ROM icon, and then double-click Carnival.exe. 2. Follow the Setup instructions on the screen. >> To start Arthur's Math Carnival: If your computer supports CD AutoPlay, the software will start a few seconds after you insert the compact disc in the CD-ROM drive. Otherwise: - Click the Windows Start button, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Arthur Software, and then click Arthur's Math Carnival. -or- - Start Windows Explorer, click the CD-ROM icon, and then double-click Carnival.exe. ========================= PART 2: VIDEO CARD ISSUES ========================= To run the Arthur software, your computer's screen resolution must be set to 800 x 600, with 256 colors or higher. For most video cards, the Arthur software will automatically switch your computer to the correct resolution. However, for some computers and video cards, you may need to change this setting yourself. 1. From the Windows Start menu, click Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click Display, and then click the Settings tab. 3. Under Desktop Area, drag the slider until the setting reads 800 by 600 pixels. 4. Under Color Palette, select the setting for 256 colors. If you are unable to change your settings manually, your video card may not have enough video RAM to support this Arthur software title. Make sure you have the latest video drivers for your video card. You can download the latest drivers from your video card manufacturer's Web site or bulletin board service (BBS). Radio interference may sometimes cause ActiMates Arthur or D.W. to stutter or miss a word. Quit other programs while the Arthur software is running. If you find that ActiMates Arthur or D.W. stutters or misses words frequently, see the troubleshooting tips in the Getting Started manual for the ActiMates PC Pack.
