NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

After installing Symantec WinFax PRO version 8.0 with Microsoft Outlook 98, the menu command to send new fax messages may be missing.

CAUSE

Certain faxing modules are not correctly registered.

RESOLUTION

Start Outlook using the /Regserver command-line switch.

MORE INFORMATION

WinFax PRO version 8.0 installs a new WinFax menu on the Outlook menu bar. If this menu is missing after installing WinFax PRO with Outlook, run the /Regserver command line switch.

The /Regserver switch rewrites all Outlook specific registry keys and re- associates file extensions.

NOTE: WinFax PRO version 9.0 does not install the WinFax menu.

To run the /Regserver switch, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Start button and click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type

    Outlook.exe /regserver

    and click OK.

You may need to type the complete path to Outlook if you did not install it in the default location. If there are spaces in the path name, enclose them in quotation marks. There is a space between Outlook.exe and the switch.

    Example:

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe." /regserver
