SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, after you save changes to a resource pool, one or more resources assigned to tasks may be replaced with a different resource.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur when the following conditions are true:
- You open a project that shares resources from a resource pool that is read-only.
- You create a new resource in the project, and assign the resource to a task.
- Another user on another computer updates the resource pool with a new resource.
- You then update the resource pool to reflect the new resource from step 2.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, install Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, ServiceRelease 1 (SR-1).
