Q187932
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows CE Toolkit for Visual Basic 5.0
SUMMARY
If more than about 4k of string data is contained in a Windows CE Toolkit for Visual Basic 5.0 (VBCE) project, the compilation of the project may result in an Application Error in PVB.exe. This error would be similar to the following:
The instruction at "0x100020dc" referenced memory at "0x0289e682". The memory could not be read.
The addresses of the error may differ depending on when the error occurs.
Control names and any properties that hold string information (including captions, tags, text properties) contribute toward this limit. Once this information exceeds about 4k, memory allocation problems may start to occur.
Pvbcore.exe is a file that contains an updated Pvbcore.dll that resolves this issue.
