SYMPTOMS
When you drag a word or item from a page that has a shared border to the main body and then undo the operation, two copies of the item that you moved remain.
-or-
When you drag a word or item from a page that has a shared border to the main body and then undo the operation, the word or item is removed from the page.
CAUSE
FrontPage undoes commands only for one document at a time. Because the shared borders are separate Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) documents (Top.htm, Bottom.htm, Left.htm, Right.htm), which are stored in the _borders directory of a FrontPage Web, the Undo command is performed only for the active page in the FrontPage Editor.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Move the insertion point to the shared border.
This step makes the border the active page in FrontPage Editor.
- On the Edit menu, click Undo.
- Move the insertion point to the main page.
This step makes it the active page in FrontPage Editor.
- On the Edit menu, click Undo.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft FrontPage 98.
