SYMPTOMS

When you use the Organic Art screen saver included with Plus! 98, your computer may stop responding (hang) at a blue screen.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if a Matrox m3D 3D accelerator card and a Matrox Millennium 2 display adapter are installed in the computer and graphics hardware acceleration is set to Full.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, reduce the graphics hardware acceleration. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click System.
  3. Click the Performance tab, and then click Graphics.
  4. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None (the Basic acceleration setting).
  5. Click OK, and then click Close.
  6. When you are prompted to restart your computer, click Yes.

MORE INFORMATION

To resolve this issue, contact Matrox Graphics to inquire about obtaining an updated video driver for the m3D 3D accelerator card that is compatible with the Organic Art screen saver.

This issue can also occur if a 3D accelerator card based on the 3DFX Voodoo II chipset is installed in the computer.
