SYMPTOMS
When you compose a new message using Microsoft Outlook for Macintosh, on the View menu, the Formatting Toolbar command appears dimmed.
CAUSE
Outlook for Power Macintosh, which ships with Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5, disables this feature when running on the Macintosh Operating System (OS) 8.0 or higher.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook for Macintosh, Exchange Server Edition, version 8.0.
MORE INFORMATION
These problems occur due to a change made in Macintosh OS 8.0, not Microsoft Exchange Server or Outlook. Microsoft is working closely with Apple to resolve these issues and will post more information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
