SYMPTOMS
When sending a message with a custom form in Microsoft Outlook 97 the message sizes may be larger than expected. This can be true even if you do not choose the option, "Save form definition with item."
CAUSE
The form design is too complex and Outlook sent a copy of the form with the message.
RESOLUTION
Simplify the form design by removing some fields.
MORE INFORMATION
Outlook provides an option when designing a custom form to send the form's definition along with messages generated by the form. This allows recipients of the message who do not have access to the library containing the form, to see the custom form when opening the message. Selecting this option increases the size of the message.
While you are designing a form, Outlook reserves workspace in memory. If the form design is too complex the design process may exceeds this reserved memory space. In this event Outlook internally sets on the option "Save form definition with item" and sends a copy of the form with the message.
To Set the "Save form definition with item" Option
- Open a new message and on the Tools menu click, Design Outlook Form.
- On the Properties tab, click to select the option "Save form definition with item."
- Complete the form design and publish the form.
