SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, when you select a calendar in the Change Working Time dialog box, you may receive one of the following error messages.

In Windows 95

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

When you click Details, you receive the following error:

WINPROJ caused an invalid page fault in module WINPROJ.EXE at <address>.

In Windows NT

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.

WINPROJ.EXE
Exception: access violation <number>, Address: <address>.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs in consolidated projects when you do the following in the Change Working Time dialog box:

  1. You choose any custom (nonstandard) calendar from an inserted project.
  2. You choose a second calendar that has not yet been used in the consolidated project.


RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, install Microsoft Project 98 for Windows Service Release 1 (SR-1).

To work around this problem in Microsoft Project 98 (non SR-1), follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Organizer.
  2. Click the Calendars tab.
  3. Select any calendars in the Global.mpt that are not already in your project.
  4. Click Copy.
  5. Click Close.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
