SYMPTOMS

When you use the Epson Stylus 200, 400, 600 color printers to print mailing labels from Microsoft Greetings Workshop 2.0, the labels will appear to be misaligned. The template alignment guide for the labels will be shifted up and to the left, giving the appearance of the graphics and text frames being shifted down to the right. Labels will print correctly in spite of the incorrect display.

CAUSE

Greetings Workshop gets its layout information from the default printer driver. There is a communication problem between Greetings Workshop and the Epson printer drivers mentioned in the "Symptoms" section that results in template alignment guide being misplaced.

WORKAROUND

There are several workarounds. They are listed in order of preference.

  • Ignore the incorrect display. While the alignment template is incorrectly displayed, the graphics and text are placed correctly, and will print correctly on the label.
  • Install the most current Epson Stylus 800 Color printer driver (version 2.23) and select it as your default printer. It will print the labels correctly. If inconsistencies in quality of output occur, try the following step.

    • Use the Epson Stylus 800C printer driver to create the labels, but switch to the default printer driver for your printer just before printing the labels.
