SYMPTOMS

After you insert a graphic or other picture in any of the Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition programs, one or more of the following problems may occur:

  • You cannot move or resize inserted pictures or objects.


-or-

  • In Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition, you cannot select characters by moving the insertion point to the beginning of the text and dragging with your pointer.


-or-

  • You cannot crop any picture by selecting the cropping tool from the Picture toolbar and dragging with the pointer to crop out or add cropping to any part of the selected picture.


-or-

  • You cannot display any of the popup menus, for example, the Drawing and AutoShapes menus.


-or-

  • Any AutoShape you try to insert is created at a default size.


-or-

  • You cannot move a floating toolbar.


-or-

  • You cannot drag and drop text in Word 98.


CAUSE

These problems occur because of a conflict between the extensions that are installed by CameraMan version 3.01 and Microsoft Office 98.

WORKAROUND

To work around these problems, turn off the CameraMan extensions by using Extensions Manager, and then restart your computer.

If you want to keep CameraMan installed, you can workaround some of these issues by manually making the necessary changes.

Moving Pictures and Objects

To manually move a picture or object, follow these steps:

  1. Click once on the item to select it.
  2. Press the UP, DOWN, LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys to move the item.

Resizing and Reshaping Pictures and Objects

To resize or reshape a picture, follow these steps:

  1. Click once on the item to select it.
  2. On the Format menu, click Picture or AutoShape, depending the type of object that is selected.
  3. Click the Size tab, change the Height, Width, or the Rotation values.
  4. Click OK.

Cropping Pictures

To crop a picture, follow these steps:

  1. Click once on the item to select it.
  2. On the Format menu, click Picture.
  3. Click the Picture tab and change the Left, Right, Top, or Bottom values.
  4. Click OK.

Selecting Text in Microsoft Word

To select text, follow these steps:

  1. Move the insertion pointer to the left of the text you want to select.
  2. Press and hold down the SHIFT key, press the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys on the keyboard.


STATUS

This problem occurs when you use Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition and CameraMan 3.01.
