SYMPTOMS
When you record and then play back a Visual Basic for Applications macro that inserts formatted AutoText entries, the formatting is not inserted into your document.
CAUSE
Word does not record the RichText argument.
WORKAROUND
Microsoft provides programming examples for illustration only, without warranty either expressed or implied. This includes, but is not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. This article assumes that you are familiar with the programming language that is being demonstrated and with the tools that are used to create and to debug procedures. Microsoft support engineers can help explain the functionality of a particular procedure, but they will not modify these examples to provide added functionality or construct procedures to meet your specific requirements.
To work around this problem, modify the macro to include the RichText:=True argument.
To edit the macro, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Macros.
- Select the recorded macro, and then click Edit.
Look for the line that inserts the AutoText entry. For example, look for a line that looks similar to this:
NormalTemplate.AutoTextEntries("test").Insert Where:=Selection.Range
Change this line of code so that it looks similar to this:
NormalTemplate.AutoTextEntries("test").Insert _ Where:=Selection.Range , RichText:=True
- On the File menu, click "Close and Return to Microsoft Word."
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
