For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

Internet Explorer Sound Pack is an optional component that can be used to associate Windows sound (.wav) files with navigation events in Internet Explorer. To remove Internet Explorer Sound Pack from your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
  2. In the Named box, type done.wav hoversel.wav start.wav ie4sound.inf, and then click Find Now.

    NOTE: The Ie4sound.inf file is not included in Internet Explorer for Windows NT 4.0.
  3. In the list of found files, right-click each file, and then click Delete.
  4. Remove the (Default) string value from the following registry keys:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\Explorer\ ActivatingDocument\.current

    HKEY_CURRNET_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\Explorer\Navigating\ .current

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\CCSelect\.Current
