Article ID: 183455

Article Last Modified on 1/22/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Project 98 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q183455

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, when you save a project in the MPX 4.0 file format, the fields Start1 through Start5, Finish1 through Finish5 and Contact are not saved.

CAUSE

The fields Start1 through Start5, Finish1 through Finish5 and Contact are not included in the Export table. Only the fields listed in the Export table are saved in the MPX file.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, add the fields Start1 through Start5, Finish1 through Finish5, and Contact to the Export table by following these steps:

  1. On the View menu, point to Table, and then click More Tables.
  2. Under Tables, click to select Export.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Scroll through the list of fields until you see Start in the Field Name column.
  5. Click to select the field just below Finish, and then click Insert Row.
  6. In the blank row under Field Name, type Start1.
  7. Click to select the field just below the newly inserted row, and then click Insert Row.
  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until you have inserted Field Names Start2 through Start5, Finish1 through Finish5 and Contact.

NOTE: You can also add other fields as needed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
