SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word version 7.x for Windows 95, when you use the Word 97 Import Converter (Mswrd832.cnv) to open a Word 97 document that contains outlined or filled text boxes, the text boxes may be formatted incorrectly.

For example, a transparent object may appear to be filled, an unlined object will be formatted with a line, or the fill color will be changed dramatically.

CAUSE

The Word 97 Import Converter, MSWrd832.cnv, does not handle conversion of these text boxes appropriately.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade to the latest version of the Word 97 Import Converter. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows.
