Article ID: 180923

Article Last Modified on 1/22/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Project 98 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q180923

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, when you copy and paste a selection of tasks, you may see any of the following symptoms:

  • Additional tasks
  • Additional or incorrect task links
  • Invalid inserted projects
  • Additional or incorrect resource assignments

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you copy tasks that include an inserted project that is expanded.

In addition to pasting the inserted project as a whole, Microsoft Project also pastes the tasks from the inserted project as individual tasks in the consolidated project.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, collapse the inserted project before copying it. To do this, click the minus sign next to the inserted project's summary task. After you paste the selection of tasks, you can expand the inserted project if necessary.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
